MOXIBUSTION
A form of heat therapy that helps warm, support and tonify the body. Smokeless moxa sticks are held over certain points of the body to promote circulation in the muscles and meridians, nourish Qi and Blood and remove stagnation. It can help ease pain, relax the muscles and warm the body. It is also used to help turn a breach baby in late pregnancy.
CUPPING
A therapy used in Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves glass cups being placed on the skin to create a suction, which can help ease pain and improve blood flow and circulation. It can also be used to aid respiratory conditions such as coughs, colds and flu.
GUA SHA
A traditional Chinese healing method where a smooth-edged tool is used to stroke the skin whilst pressing down. This action creates patches of small red dots known as petechiae, and helps ease pain and improve blood and Qi flow to the area.
TUI NA
A form of Chinese massage therapy that is used to treat specific illnesses of an internal nature as well as muscular skeletal ailments. Used in conjunction with acupuncture it focuses on stimulating the points, meridians and collaterals with manual massage techniques, to help correct imbalance in the body.
Every person is unique, and treatments are designed to meet the individual needs of the patient.
I also encourage each patient to be actively involved in their own healing process, and include lifestyle and nutritional advice in the sessions.
Treatment may include the use of the following therapies, depending on your requirements:
THE SPACE
Treatments take place in a beautiful, light and quiet room in The Trampery on Tottenham High Road.
Situated in a lovely old building, The Trampery is a warm and welcoming community and creative hub of entrepreneurs and small businesses - a place that I am proud to call home.
For all sessions you will be treated in total privacy and confidentiality.

For new customers, the initial consultation and treatment will last 90 minutes and will involve a detailed assessment of your current health and medical history. Subsequent treatment sessions will last 60 minutes. The number of treatments required will depend on the length, nature and severity of symptoms experienced.
I will often combine acupuncture with supporting therapies, such as Tui Na massage, cupping, moxibustion and gua sha.

FAQ
What is acupuncture?
In Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) the body is seen as a network of channels known as meridians, which connect with each other allowing the energy, or Qi of the body to flow.
Many aspects of modern life such as injury, emotional stress, poor diet and lack of exercise can affect the smooth flow of Qi in the body, causing imbalance and reduced levels of body function, which can lead to illness.
By gentling stimulating points on these channels with very fine needles, acupuncture can help restore the flow of Qi, engaging the body’s natural healing mechanism to bring equilibrium back to the body and restore health.
Does it hurt?
No! The needles in acupuncture are incredibly fine, so acupuncture should not be a painful experience. After insertion, you may well experience a sensation around the needle, from a tingle to a dull ache or slight numbness, but this should not be unpleasant and is a sign that the treatment is working.
What will a session be like?
During our first session we will talk about why you want acupuncture and what you hope to achieve. I will take a detailed health history during this consultation which will last about 30 minutes. The second part of the session will take place in the treatment space and will last 60 minutes.
What should I bring to the appointment?
You will not need to undress fully for treatment, loose fitting clothes are the easiest to work around. However, due to new Covid-19 measures, I will not be providing towels so please bring a towel or sarong to cover you, should it be needed during the treatment.
Please also bring your own water if needed as there is none available now in the clinic, and make sure to have eaten prior to the appointment.
